"Awareness and Localization Programme on Disability-Friendly Reproductive Health and Safe motherhood service Guideline in Madhesh Province"

Federation of Women with Disability Nepal (FWDN), with the financial support of VSO Nepal and UK International Development, successfully completed 1 day “Awareness and Localization Programme on Disability-Friendly Reproductive Health and Safe motherhood service Guideline” in Janakpur, Dhanusha, and Madhesh provinces on Falgun 10, 2081 (February 22, 2025).
The program was chaired by the Chairperson of the Federation of Women with Disabilities Nepal, Nirmala Dhital, and inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Kishori Shah, as the chief guest. The special guest speakers were Dev Kumari Khatri (Head of Social Services Department, Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare,), Kiran Kumar Paswan (President of the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal), and Mina Poudel (President of the Nepal Disabled Women's Association). VSO Nepal representative Priti Sharma was also present at the event.
The event included presentations on the health rights of Women with Disabilities, and information on Disability-Friendly Reproductive Health and Safe motherhood service Guideline. There was also a wide-ranging discussion on the problems faced by Women with Disabilities in Reproductive health and Maternity, challenges in services, and difficulties encountered in obtaining services at health institutions. This event emphasized policy reform, expansion of service access, and development of inclusive structures to ensure access and rights of Women with Disabilities to health services.
