Federation of Women with Disability Nepal(FWDN) has conducted consultation meeting on “Consultation Meeting with Mahalaxmi Municipality on draft of Referral Guideline for Victim of Violence Against Women and Girls” for the discussion on the draft of the Guideline on Referral Mechanisms to Address Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) brought together with Expectative committee’s representatives, legislative committee’s representatives, Access to Justice committee’s representative, chief of administrative sections and staffs members of Women, Children and Social Development, Mahalaxmi Municipality with the financial support of Forum for Women, Law and Development (FWLD) and Policy Advocacy Network against Violence against Women and Girls (PANAV) on 18th May, 2025 (Shrawan2, 2082) at Mahalaxmi Municipality, Imadol, Lalitpur.

The meeting served as a platform for an in-depth discussion and practical recommendations to give final shape to the guideline which will be locally relevant, actionable and inclusive, especially addressing most marginalized and vulnerable groups from the lens of intersectional approach facing by sex, gender, disability, poverty, caste, religion, culture, race and color based discrimination on violence.
Representatives of the Municipality appreciated the collaborative approach and emphasized the importance of clear roles, responsibility, inter-agency coordination along with services provide on the need and rights based approach for example; inclusion of disability-friendly services. Based on the constructive feedback received in today’s session, the draft will be updated and presented as a final Guideline for the further process. Mahalaxmi Municipality’s deputy Mayor, Laxmi Maharjan has committed to ensure that the guideline receives municipal support and moves toward official adoption and implementation.
