Advocacy and Lobby Meeting on Access to Justice regarding the Women with Disabilities at Nepal Law Commission
FWDN conducted an advocacy and lobby meeting on access to justice with Nepal Law Commission on Mangsir 21st, 2081 (6th December, 2024). A comprehensive discussion and interactive program was held at the meeting hall of Nepal Law Commission, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on the issues, challenges related to access to justice for women and girls with disabilities, jointly organized by the National Federation of Deaf Nepal (NDFN), Society of Deaf Blind Parents Nepal (SDBP) and National Sign Language Interpreters Association (NASLI), and with the support of Disability Rights Foundation (DRF). With the participation and presence of 25 individuals in the meeting including 17 females while 8 males, the meeting was very interactive and effective. In the meeting the Chairperson of FWDN showcased a short presentation on Disability, Types of Disabilities, Justice and 14 issues that needs to be addressed on the access to justice for Person with Disabilities. Also the representatives from each consortium partners also shared their personal experiences and issues they have been facing in their daily lives. In response to that the Officials of commission showed their positive response to the issues and ensured that the issues shared in the meetings will be further discussed and the possible amendments in the legal policies will be considered.
